New Release, ‘One Minute to the Start’
The three surviving J-Class Yachts raced together at Cowes for the first time in 65 years during the 150th Anniversary of the America’s Cup in 2001. For this race Endeavour, Velsheda and Shamrock V were joined by the 23 metre Cambria.
Marine Artist Rodney Charman was on a support vessel for the J-Class Yachts. This enabled him to experience the action close up and in turn produce the stunning original oil painting from which this fine art print has been faithfully reproduced.

NEW JOLIE BRISE PAINTING and PRINTS DISPLAYED AT DAUNTSEY'S SCHOOL
Dauntsey's School Sailing Club have maintained and used the famous racing yacht Jolie Brise for many years. On Saturday 27th April they held their Annual Dinner, with Sir Robin Knox-Johnston being the after dinner speaker.
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston was the first man to sail solo non-stop around the world. He has also won the Round Britain Race twice, been in the British Admiral's Cup team twice, and in 1994 co-skippered the 92' catamaran Enza to a new world record circumnavigation of just under 75 days.
Rodney Charman was invited to display his original painting in prime position behind the top table, and the limited edition prints went on display for the first time publicly. Many of the guests that evening had sailed on Jolie Brise and most had children attending the school and training on the yacht. The painting was much admired and many of the prints were sold.

RODNEY CHARMAN PAINTINGS FEATURE IN TV DOCUMENTARY
Two of Rodney Charman's painting have been included in the documentary 'Moby Dick - The True Story', shown on British TV on Monday 4th February. This superb programme re-traced the final voyage of the Nantucket whaleship 'Essex', based on the written accounts of the Captain and the Cabin Boy. The 'Essex' was attacked and sunk by an enraged sperm whale in the North Pacific Ocean, leaving the crew drifting for three months in small whaleboats, reducing them to madness and cannibalism. This incredible true story inspired Herman Melville a few years later to write the classic 'Moby Dick'.
One of the paintings used shows an aerial view of Nantucket, the other painting depicting a whaleship preparing to set sail from Nantucket's harbour.
